Chris J. Hamilton, P.E., Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board
Chris Hamilton was elected as Chief Executive Officer of the NGNP Industry Alliance Limited in March of 2015. He is the Chief Operating Officer of Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation. Chris has served on the Alliance Board since 2013 and has more than 40 years in the nuclear engineering field. He hold a B.S. in Physics From Georgia Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering Reactor Physics also from GIT. He holds a MBA from San Diego State University and a certificate from the Executive Program for Scientists and Engineers from University of California at San Diego. Chris was elected as CEO of the NGNP industry Alliance Limited in March of 2015.
John Mahoney, PMP, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer
John Mahoney is the incorporating officer of the Alliance. He was Secretary-Treasurer from 2010 through July 2013 and has been elected to serve another 2-year term starting in March of 2015 and has been re-affirmed as the Alliance's Chief Financial Officer for 2017 through 2018. John has a 35-year background in the energy and telecommunications industries. He is President and Chief Operating Officer of High Expectations International, LLC which provides project management and business consulting for clients. John holds a BBA from Northwood University and a MS in Management from Troy University. His experience includes work in utility operations, construction, engineering, maintenance, planning, information technology, and telecommunications as well as project and program management. Mr. Mahoney is a member of the American Nuclear Society where he is Past-Chair of the Human Factors, Instrumentation and Controls Division. Donald Hoffman, Vice-Chair
Donald Hoffman is the President & CEO at EXCEL Services Corporation. He was elected a Vice-Chair in 2016 and will start his term in 2017. Hoffman served as the 59th president of the American Nuclear Society. He is the Chair of the Virginia Nuclear Energy Consortium Authority which is charged with the responsibility for making the Commonwealth a national and global leader in nuclear energy and to serve as an interdisciplinary study, research, and information resource for the Commonwealth on nuclear issues. He is the Co-Chair of the ANS Special Committee on Nuclear in the States which shall identify and review: state and regional-opportunities for new nuclear development in the US; state-level legislative and regulatory barriers preventing such development; federal policies that have a direct impact on state level decision-making; lessons learned from the new nuclear development projects currently under construction, and determine the best course forward. He is also the president of Eagle Alliance, a U.S. based grassroots organization that represents all facets of nuclear science and technology. Donald served in the U.S. Nuclear Submarine Navy as a senior reactor operator and engineering officer. Previously, Mr. Hoffman was a branch chief and a lead reviewer at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He holds a B.S. in Nuclear Science and Engineering. Finis Southworth Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Southworth is the the Chief Technology Officer in a new Alliance Board role for 2017. Previously he was with AREVA from 2007 until his retirement in September, 2015. He has had a 40-year career spanning work on intellectual property, research and development, the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster in Japan, staff management and as an adjunct professor at Idaho State University's business school. Finis has been on the Board of the Alliance since its inception in 2010 serving as the Secretary-Treasurer and Assistant Executive Director. Finis remains involved in HTGR technology development efforts which has been a passion of his since his early career days. During his distinguished career, he has held positions with Florida Power & Light [now NextEra Energy] and at the Idaho National Laboratory.
Jason Lang, Secretary and Chief Administrative Officer
Jason Lang was appointed as Secretary in 2017. Jason has been active with the Alliance since SGL joined us in 2011. He has been involved in several projects including our website support and development and project work from 2012 through 2014. Jason has been the sitting Board member for SGL Group from 2012 through 2014 and again in 2016. Mr. Lang Joined the SGL Group team in 2003. He is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt and his work included accountability for timely and full delivery of Lean projects, benefits and costs, communications, and senior leadership project reviews. He was also responsible for setting the vision for improvement objectives, as well as performing process and statistical analysis to identify improvement opportunities. Since 2011, have functioned as a Technical Sales Manager within SGL.
Mark Haynes, Executive Director – Vice President, Strategy & Business Development
Mark Haynes is the Executive Director for the Alliance. He is the President of Concordia Power and has over 25 years of experience in nuclear energy development, technology policy, and strategy requiring close coordination and communication with the Department of Energy, Congress and numerous domestic and foreign companies, universities and national laboratories. He has experience in advanced nuclear energy technologies, nuclear site cleanup, and uranium mining. He has more than 18 years of experience leading the nuclear research community’s legislative and funding efforts in Washington DC. Mark has been the Senior Technical Advisor for the Alliance since its inception. Prior to establishing Concordia Power, he was Vice President of Energy Development and Vice President of Washington Operations for General Atomics. Previously to that he was Director of Government Relations with Fluor Corporation. He also served the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works as a Professional Staff Member.
Joseph Kowalewski, Executive Technical Advisor

Joe is a leader in the nuclear power industry and known for his fleet operations background, most recently at Entergy. With more than 20 year’s management and executive level experience he is supporting the officers by providing effective advice in the areas of nuclear operations and the environment. In his advisory role, Mr. Kowalewski will provide input and guidance on technology development, infrastructure development and siting requirements. His related experience in utility operations, technical management, cost management and regulatory requirements brings valued experience to our team. He is helping the Alliance to steer developments relevant to HTGR technology in the current domestic and international markets. Joe holds a Master’s of Energy from Tulane University, a BS-Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester, and a Senior Reactor Operator Certification.
